19th December 2015 - UD defeat to George Jupp

Smith’s first round demolition against world rated Dennis Tubieron last time out in July sent a message to the super-featherweight division.

Points decisions over Peter Cope for the English in July 2014 and Scott Moises for the Southern Area back in September 2013 gave Smith his first taste of gold since winning the Senior ABA 57kg crown in 2011.

Likened to Ricky Hatton by trainer Jason Rowland, Smith brings a real swagger and bravado to the ring.

Beating both Zoltan Kovacs for the WBO European and Cristian Palma for the WBO Intercontinental titles has mapped out Smith’s route.

Those win's were sandwiched in between a sensational knockout over Antonio Horvatic at The Excel in March 2013:

In his early twenties, he is one of the brightest prospects in the country and already ranked in the WBO's top - a crack at a world title is surely not too far round the corner.

Set back

George Jupp took a UD victory over Mitchell Smith on the big December 19 card in Manchester to put a dent in Mitchell's rise to the top and taking his WBO ranking title along the way.
